After having begun work on it four years ago, only in July of 2024, two years after I quit Minecraft, did I finally resume work on this project. There were two primary goals: Make a final, definitive version, and finally make a downloadable version of the world. Version five was an overhaul of version 4, built by Eclectic Inventor, Jsmovieguy, and Leroy717. The TV, nut (both originally built by kamini14) and elevator rooms received minor changes, while the rest of the factory was completely rebuilt.

Version four was a complete rebuild of the factory, now in its own dedicated world, built by MrWonka and Kamini14. It is by far the largest version, and features the most detail, along with new audio editing to create the custom audio for the river ride and elevator.

Version three was an overhaul of many of the rooms in version two, due in part due to a large chunk error that wiped out most of the invention room and elevator ride.

The second version was built on RedstoneMC (The former name for ImagineMC), and was the first major attraction on the server. It was built mainly by MrWonka, Harley6000, and Tytess.

The first version was built on the now defunct server WeechWeb, and was created largely in part to the community, in which ~8 people worked on the build.

ImagineMC ceases operation. The following statement is released:

After 8 years of entertaining guests with unique and innovation experiences, ImagineMC concluded operation on December 8th. This was not an easy decision for any of us to make, but the main builders and I have all become spent on Minecraft, and have largely moved on to other projects. We would like to thank everyone that visited, and doubly those that contributed to the project.

2021

Nintendo_Male takes ownership of ImagineMC as MrWonka largely retires from Minecraft.

2020

We moved to a new host and acquired imaginemc.org as the new server IP, leading to faster connections for most users.

2019

The server celebrated its 5 year anniversary by opening 5 new attractions on March 8th. Due to technical difficulties, only 3 opened on the anniversary date. We also saw the opening of a new themepark, Worlds Of Adventure, the first in almost 2 years. As part of our 1.14 update the hub was remade, finally connecting all 3 parks with new buildings.

2018

I finally decided to make a big push to put the servers big builds on Planet Minecraft as links to the server. The move turned out to be a huge success as more players were now finding the server based on the things we had built on it, such as the Tower of Terror, MOSI, and Back to the Future.

2017

The server re-opened with a new hub and centralized warp zone, providing a better experience to new guests.

2016

On December 8th 2016 it was announced that the ImagineMC server would be closing, with further details explained in the video.

Originally, the to be continued… at the end of the video was going to be a video series about the history and progression of the server although, to my surprise after the announcement was made, there was a huge outcry of support and sadness, which I had not at all expected, so two further videos were posted hinting at the revival.

Finally after a new sponsorship with McJukebox and Ranni Server hosting, ImagineMC was able to re-open in March of 2017

2015

In the years after RedstoneMC opened, we decided to make a shift from trying to be a jack of all trades, (at the time we were offering a themepark, hotel, bank, village of tomorrow, survival, creative, etc) to focusing on entertainment. We also had strayed away from the original redstone theme, meaning that the original name no longer made sense for our new image, hence the name change. Below are the promotional pictures from 2015.

This is the worlds first replica of the Museum of Science and Industry located in Tampa. This is based on the original and kids in charge buildings in 2008, as seen from satellite, images and my personal memory. It is currently a work in progress.

Not even the medjai can save you now! Based on the Universal Orlando ride, using track blueprints, we set out to create the most fun and accurate version of this attraction. In the queue we took some artistic license and incorporated interactive elements and parts from Universal Studios Hollywood.

Version two was an entire re-build of the factory, now set in its own dedicated world, built by MrWonka and kamini14. This was kamini’s first major build on the server, and a true testament of his talent. It also featured a re-imaging of the boat ride to make it similar to the movie, while still interesting in Minecraft, as well as the first use of the /clone command in any build by MrWonka.

This replica, based on the 1971 film, has one of the more interesting backstories of any attraction on RedstoneMC (now called ImagineMC). The first version was built by two fellows who had built their own replica of the factory on a creative server. I was so impressed by it, and not really wanting to build the factory myself, that I decided to let them build it on the server. Unfortunately they completed the entire project in two days, and upon completion it was opened to mixed reviews. I quickly closed it, fired both of the builders, and then renovated just about every portion of the build. This is what then opened and was considered to be the version one build.

All was not well though. First, I marketed my world as being “THE BEST” which, while I believed (and still do) that it was, commenters were quick to let me know their opinions on this claim. This taught me an important lesson in humility, and in 2014 I stopped using the title. (Although you can still find evidence of this in the Planet Minecraft URL, which has the original name “the-best-replica-of-bikini-bottom”). Just to add some more salt to the wound, right as I was about to update the online world file, I accidentally deleted my local copy, thus meaning I had to redo all the work I already did between versions.

In the end, I found that the spongebob Minecraft market is simply too saturated so putting fourth the amount of effort would not make sense for such little attention and gains.
