I created this as my final project from a summer camp called ID Tech. It was special because it used ascii artwork, had cheat codes, achievements, colored text and even music and sound effects from the game. This was especially notable because the instructor wasn’t even sure how to get audio to play, because in C++ the engine doesn’t have a way of playing audio. What I wound up doing was calling the Groove music player to open audio files stored locally on my computer.
When I first made this available for download you had to actually run it in Microsoft’s Visual Studio. I’ve since modified it so that its a proper .exe (which triggers a warning on windows, you can safely dismiss it), which means no other downloads are necessary to run the program. I’ve also had to modify the code to remove the audio since it called on LOCAL files.
